Afectación de la ateroesclerosis en la diabetes

Resumen
La ateroesclerosis es un proceso que se inicia tempranamente en la vida del individuo, afectando las arterias de mediano y grueso calibre, y provocando una disminución del flujo sanguíneo tisular. Son muchos los factores relacionados con el desarrollo de la ateroesclerosis. En los diabéticos la afectación ateroesclerosis se presenta en una proporción mucho mayor que en el resto de la población y es responsable de numerosas complicaciones vasculares isquémicas.
